Tidal wave

Words don't work sometimes...so I'm trying something different this time.

SAFE IN MY INLAND HOME…

Looking out the window,
Behind strong grilles, safe in my inland home…
My outstretched hands feel heavy droplets
Trickle down my fingertips.
The water brings frightful thoughts to mind…
And the droplets seem to sting my palm,
As the tortured cry of childless mothers fill my head.

Looking out the window,
Behind strong grilles…safe in my inland home
I breathe in deeply and take in the smell,
Of the wet soil.
Somewhere the ground shakes violently,
And wells up with hot salty tears…
As horrific visions disturb my peace.

Looking out the grilled window,
I think of those who have watched their lives being washed away.
We talk about food and clothes and drinking water,
But who will pay for broken hearts?

Two fingers snap me back to reality.
I swallow the lump at the back of my throat,
And smile.
For tomorrow is another day.

Hey Meghna! I have to be all formal and capitalise my words here eh? Hence I don't have a blog!!
Anyways, I already read that poem in the english room when Pammi was correcting our papers... and I said this already but I'll say it again... That poem is really truly amazing!! Oh and this is Sucheta by the way... in case you hadn't figured out already!!!

Ay; and verily does she have reason to mark thy words, Nandini, for the poem is indeed good (despite all claims to the contrary!); yea, good it is, and rightfully do I name it so.

And Sucheta - I do not speak for Meghna, but I say that formality is not needed; yea, and the archaism of my words should not serve as a guide for thy posting...

    (Woo. That was fun.)

AHHHH!!! Archaic posting!! When shalt thee stop with thine barrage of wordings in the backward?? Hast thee not tortured enough mortals of this world of currentness, that they call "modern", to appease thy desires deepest of expelling the ghosts of lingual pastness that hav'st a place not in the world of today?

(OK, I knnow I suck, but that was fun, considering its a sunday morning - YES MORNING{gala breakfast and all... hehe...} attempt...)

Yet forsooth, the evils of archaism are but a small and easy-dismissed thing, yet the evils of the American tongue, that they have the nerve to call English, are further-reaching indeed, and are seen in their daggard spelling, and their lily-livered love-affair with the letter 'z' -- that self-same letter that is better said 'zed' and not 'zee' -- which, alas, reaches ever-further, spreading its evil like some tentacled monstrosity...
Hast thou not heard it? Verily I know it for truth, and see indeed that the evils and calamities of what you call 'barrage of wordings in the backward' are to this travesty that is American spelling and grammar but as a small drop of water to the entire ocean...

(God, I could do this all day. Funfunfun.)

Very well oh knight(ie??!!) of Middle Earth, , thee hast proven thy excellence in the art of jousting the verbality and ousting the american tongue (and cheek!) to the land of eternal exile. Mayst the Americans feel the scorching flames of thyne wrath, as they suffreth for eternity for their unforgivable sacrilige of the hissing 's', in whose pristine place they have plac'd that foul, slithering 'zee' that they have the gaul to furthur mispronounce. May any tongue that mispronounceth this serpantine syllabyl be damned to the dregs of society, and may he be forgotten in the bookz(!! :-P ) of time.
